			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>The former Barrett Room on the 2nd floor of Alderman Library is being transformed into the Asian Studies Room. Starting this fall, the room<br />

who are working in those areas. The room contains tables and seating for individual study and seminars, and will eventually house the Stanley<br />
and Lucie Weinstein Buddhist and Asian Studies Library when the bequeathed collection is received by the University.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>Feb. 27, 2007 &#8212; The University of Virginia Library has acquired a previously unknown African-American slave narrative, which has been added to the University’s Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library.</p>
<p>&#8220;Rambles of a Runaway from Southern Slavery,&#8221; first published in Stratford, Ontario in 1869, was not listed in any library or bibliographic catalog. The 72-page autobiographical account relates the experiences of Henry Goings, a Virginia-born slave who escaped to freedom in Canada.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>Located adjacent to the entrance to the <a href="http://www.lib.virginia.edu/small/about/hours.html">Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library</a>, Declaring Independence: Creating and Re-creating America’s Document displays highlights of the most comprehensive collection of letters, documents, and early printings of the Declaration of Independence. The exhibition sheds light on not only the writing and signing of the Declaration, but also on its first printing, distribution across the colonies, and future impact on American history. An accompanying documentary film is available for viewing in the gallery.</p>
<p>Volunteer docents will give guided tours of the exhibit at the following days and times</p>
<p>* Tuesday &#8211; noon to 4 p.m.<br />
* Wednesday &#8211; 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.<br />
* Thursday &#8211; 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.<br />
* Friday &#8211; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.<br />
* Saturday &#8211; noon to 2 p.m.</p>
